Thomas A. Lazzaro, Ph.D. was a Forensic Clinical Psychologist who practiced for more than 30 years. He is best known for his research on human impulse control and his extensive expert testimony in criminal, civil, and family litigation in county, state, and federal courts throughout New York State.
Professional Organizations & Professional Privileges
Dr. Lazzaro had staff privileges at numerous medical centers, is on the faculty at Upstate Medical University in the Department of Psychiatry, and had been a consultant with the United Nations International Police Task Force in Bosnia, He had recently presented for the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers program, to Supreme Court Judges, and to various bar associations on a Clinical View of Criminal Defense and Civil Commitment of Sex Abuse Cases. He also served on several boards of directors and is a professional leader and consultant on forensic and ethical issues. He was a member of the American Psychological Association College of Professional Psychology, is a clinical member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, and has conducted many Mental Hygiene Law Article 9 and Article 10 Psychological/Risk Assessment evaluations for both the New York State Mental Hygiene Legal Service and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.
